An EMT certification is available for each of the four progressive levels of EMT training. These are EMT 1 (Basic), EMT 2 and 3 (Intermediate) and EMT 4 (Paramedic).

Training EMT starts with the basic level, and entry of each of the following levels requires the completion of the previous one(s). The EMT certification program for the first level falls into three categories of training.
