Internal structure of hair - Deep inside the hair follicle, the hair forms a hair bulb which protrudes and grows outside. Any Method of hair improvements like shampooing, conditioning, cutting, sun exposure does not affect the rate of growth of the hair.
??
There are mainly 3 phases of hair growth -
1. Anagen which takes a time of about 1000 days or 3 years.
2. Catagen lasting for 10 days.
3. Tologen for nearly 3 months.
??
Anagen includes the first stage of hair growth and Tologen is the last i.e. the shedding phase of hair. The hair bulb keeps on protruding outside from the first to the last phase. Hair growth is also affected by the seasonal changes, i.e. hair grows more quickly in winter than in summer. In the Catagen phase, hair growth is stopped for a small time and no pigments are produced during this phase.
??
The time span of Anagen Phase is usually fixed and can be determined genetically. It is also responsible for the length of the hair. The number of hair follicles on a human head is approximately 100,000. Each Follicle produces hair for about 20 times in a person's lifetime. In case of a new born baby, the hair follicles grow all together, i.e. all at a same time. But as the baby grows, the follicles produce hair at different time intervals.
